Hi everyone, it’s Roxy here from Kids in Adelaide.
Recently I was lucky enough to score a few nights stay at BIG4 Solitary Islands Resort in the Northern NSW town of Wooli and I’d love to share our stay with you.
There are a range of accommodation options at this park. Everything from the very deluxe Riverfront 3 bedroom cabins, 2 bedroom cabins perfect for families, 1 bedroom studio cabins as well as powered sites and powered ensuite sites if your camping or caravanning. The riverfront sites are a fantastic spot….just DO NOT forget the bug spray!
There are a range of sites available from big
We stayed for 3 nights in a brand new 2 bedroom parkview pool bedroom cabin that can sleep up to 4 in 2 bedrooms. One with a queen size bed and the other bedroom with a set of bunks.
The cabin was immaculate and set up with everything we could have wanted. Open plan living area with a kitchen equipped with a full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, gas stove and all the kitchen bits and pieces you’d need. It was VERY comfortable, and we were VERY thankful for the big flat screen TV, Foxtel and free DVD library available from reception on one afternoon when it rained, and rained and rained!
But enough about the accommodation because the real feature of this park is its facilities. It’s is a KIDS HEAVEN! Check out the list of facilities and activities available that are either free or at a very low extra cost.
- 12m resort style pool with waterslide
- Toddler pool and spa
- 18 hole mini golf
- HUGE jumping cushion
- Sandpit
- Free canoes and kayaks
- Free bike hire
- Mini soccer pitch with goals
- Pedal bike hire ($10 for 1 hour)
And the facilities aren’t ALL there for the kids. The park also have all the things parents love including an onsite cafe and licenced onsite Top Deck Bar! Make sure you check the notice board, especially during school holidays for free pancake breakfasts, bingo, trivia and more.
Oh and speaking of park activities, if you’re lucky enough to get here during school holidays BIG4 Solitary Islands goes all out with their kids planned activities. These holidays they’ve got a circus school visiting! As well as scavenger hunts, face painting, arts and crafts, kids cooking, moonlight movies and more!
If you’re a family who love fishing, boating, diving, surfing or anything water based this is the park for you. The riverfront location made for some beautiful fishing scenery….and yes we even caught a few! You can take a paddle down the river and check out the wildlife and the mangroves. There is an onsite boat ramp for guests if you’ve got the boat with you too.
If the beach is more your scene Wooli is located on the largest stretch of protected coastline in New South Wales – so you don’t have to drive very far at all to find a beautiful beach.
We also drove into Coffs Harbour for a day trip (around 1 hour) and visited The Big Banana, walked to the top of Muttonbird Island, had the most delicious fresh prawns straight from the trawlers for lunch and then slowly drove back to the park via some of the pretty beach side towns along the way.
We had a brilliant 3 days at BIG4 Solitary Islands and would highly recommend it to any families looking for a holiday spot in Northern New South Wales. You really can’t go wrong.
